I am currently working on this series of oil paintings that portray the last days of my grandmother’s life in the hospital.

MEANINGLESS

This is the instalation that me and Michael Beitz made for the show Meaningless organized by Voidprojects and Juxtapoz in Dowtown for Art Basel in Miami. ‘Table’ is a parody of that American Dream that so many people have been looking for this country. The industry of Hollywood has been one of the best propaganda of a system full of lies where the developments are perfect geometries of houses and backyards of freshly cut grass, with always shiny car tires, where the rubbish mountains do not exist nor the cockroaches. A system «falsely» full of opportunities for all that expels us from it in the slightest error, which in many cases pushes us to medicate ourselves to continue supporting the day by day penetrating edor of shit that emanates. It entertains us, while we watch television we do not pay attention to the shit that accumulates under the carpets stamped with a WELCOME. A system whereaccess to the most basic thing, such as healthy, quality food is a real luxury.   Photo 1- 2: @wallkandy (Ian Cox).

HOMELESS

This is my diptych piece painted for the group show of Voidprojects for Homeless in t the Axel’s home in Miami. I decided to paint this image to talk about the loss traditions in our culture and to reflect on how capitalism has influenced us in recent generations in the loss of these. «Our grandparents wanted a better life for our parents and in a lot of the cases it implied their idea of progress, which was to leave the land for the big cities, supposedly full of opportunities. We, the grandchildren were born rooted to the asphalt. Our way of living has changed, the cities are full of people living alone, we have grown in the insatiable voracity of capitalism the era of individualism, we no longer need to kill the pig. Now we can buy our tray of loin in the supermarket as much as we wanted. In all of Spain the slaughter of the pig is still celebrated at the beginning of December. Families met for 2 days to kill the pig that they had raised to make the maximum possible food and distribute it among all the members equally, to be able to feed the rest […]

CREENÇA

The canvas that I painted for the exhibition show Creença in a residency organized by Voidprojects curated by Axel Void in Konvent, Spain. This series of paintings are based on a childhood photograph. One can share something with another person many times, taking it for granted, and having no evidence of it. Love is a  blind act, an act of faith. In my life, this is my only belief. This series of paintings began with a photograph of my childhood. The echo of the memory of our laughter still resonates within me, that feeling of perpetual present in which children live in, a photo innocent of its own future, unconscious of an adult self that would contemplate it years later, an unposed photograph, for children stand in front of the camera without posing for it. I met the protagonist that is not present in this painting that afternoon. I do not remember her name. To this date, I do not know who she is, but the purity of that love, of that eternal embrace, has accompanied me throughout my life. We never saw each other again. What is absent in this painting awakens in us the desire to know more […]

CREENÇA / VOID PROJECTS

Creença is a two-month residency hosting over 50 local, national and international, multidisciplinary artists in Catalonia, Spain. Taking place in an old Convent from the 19th Century, the space today is run as an art residency and a cultural center called “Konvent”. Initiated by Void Projects; painters, sculptors, installation artists, performers, and filmmakers will visit throughout July and August 2018 to create site specific installations and original works in situ to culminate in a three-day even from 31st of August and 1-2nd of September featuring theatre and live music. The objective of this series of pop-up events, is to create quality exhibitions outside the conventional art scene.Without intermediaries, galleries or institutions. These events will take place in different locations internationally. With the intention of encouraging direct dialogue between the artist and the public. These projects are not lucrative from the perspective of the organizations. We will not make any profits, each sale is 100% for the artist. Creença (Belief) comprises the concept of belief from a personal, religious or epistemological standpoint; questioning the line between belief and knowledge and proposing different relative perspectives. Embracing the social conventions and rituals of religion while avoiding the dogmatic belief. Creença invites the artist […]

COLLAGE

I try to express the maximum visual information with the least form and flat colors. A personal exercise that arises from the need to flee from classic academicism of classical oil paint. A children’s game with colored cardboards, scissors and glue. Simple.   Video: @an_______na (Anna Benet). Music: @yugenblakrok (Yugen Blakrok).
